Reiki and Energy Bodywork for Healing
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique. It's a complementary or alternative health approach that uses touch to help shake off pain, sadness, and old grief and to restore the body's harmony within itself. Energy bodywork is non-invasive and non-intrusive. You remain fully clothed throughout the session. It is beautifully calming and melts your troubles away.
Reiki gently relieves stress, depression, body pain, emotional pain, and grief.
Although techniques used by each Healer varies, the function and intended outcome are the same: to clear and balance the energy of the client in order to trigger their body's innate healing response and help the physical, mental, and emotional states return to a state of wellness and harmony. The process is nothing short of magical and extraordinary. It really does work.
Does Energy Healing Really Work?
Yes, it does. Many hospitals in the USA have begun to incorporate Energy work into their offerings for patients. There are hospitals in which doctors, nurses, and specially trained energy healers administer energy bodywork along with typical Western medical treatments. Many well-known treatment centers offer Reiki and Yoga to cancer patients as a part of an integrative offering.
Client Experience
This is a letter I received from a client in 2012.
Hello Lola, Last year [2011], I had a Reiki session with you and I wanted to let you know how our session has improved my life. My friend, K.F., recommended you for a variety of reasons and I'm so glad she did. When I went to see you, I had been tired and overly stressed for a while and attributed it to work stress and dealing with multiple family members deaths and estate dealings. After our session, you asked me if I had hypoglycemia, I told you I did and have been dealing with since I was young and can usually control it with food. You told me that I should only drink on very special occasions and that drinking could cause me harm. I didn't really think too much about that in conjunction with hypoglycemia since many of my family members are alcoholics. I am not an alcoholic but I had stopped drinking socially the week before our session because I noticed that 1 glass of wine would make me feel bad for days. After our session, I started testing my blood on a regular basis with a diabetes kit to watch my sugar levels due to your hypoglycemia concern. I noticed that my sugar levels never rose, they only dropped when I ate. I started charting everything I ate and went to see my primary doctor multiple times. My energy levels suddenly became much worse and I had a hard time functioning on my normal schedule. There was one night when I ate a steak and sweet potato which should have been fine but after about an 1 1/2 hours I couldn't hardly walk, speak, or manipulate my fingers. It was very scary. After a few episodes like this, I ended up visiting several different doctors and the ER. I wrecked my car and would have weeks on end when I was too lightheaded to drive. Thankfully, due to you pointing out the hypoglycemia concern, it lead me down the right path and my endocrinologist diagnosed me with a rare blood sugar disorder called Reactive Hypoglycemia. My body over produces insulin and it causes my blood sugar to drop all day. I have the exact opposite of diabetes. I had never heard of anything like this so it explained a lot to me about how I had been feeling after I ate. My doctor is treating me with 2 different types of medications that block the way my body absorbs carbs and sugar and I'm on a very strict low carb diet for the rest of my life. You're gift is very special and at the time I didn't fully understand what you were telling me. During our session, you seemed to stress hypoglycemia and limiting alcohol. You were telling me something that actually saved my life because if I drink too much my doctor told me that my blood sugar will drop rapidly and I could go into a coma. Thank you! The insight you gave me led me down the right path for treatment. Reactive Hypoglycemia is different than regular hypoglycemia. I've read that it can take years and a series of doctors to diagnose this disorder. I believe the only reason I was diagnosed so quickly is because, with your help, I was able to zero in on symptoms that I wouldn't have even thought twice about but totally made sense with the way I had been feeling. I know you see a lot of people and probably don't remember our session, but I do have a question. When you feel something like you felt with me, do you also feel the severity of the problem? You have an amazing gift and I'm so glad I met you. Have a great Memorial Day Weekend! D.R. |
